How can the life of an industrial computer system be extended and how can the frequency of complex conversions be reduced in the process? One key culprit in shortening the lifetime of power electronics is heat generation. From March 10 to March 12, 2026, CTX Thermal Solutions will be using the embedded world trade show as an opportunity to demonstrate how their tailor-made solutions keep temperatures low in embedded systems and industrial PCs. The focus at CTX’s Booth 221 in Hall 1 will be on compact embedded heat sinks, heat-dissipating housings, and high-capacity heat pipes.
Compact and fast heat dissipation
Embedded systems are distinguished by their heat sinks, which are particularly compact and deliver high heat dissipation. When installed directly at the hot spot, heat sinks with a copper inlay, for instance, provide rapid heat dissipation. Copper boasts exceptional thermal conductivity that can measure up to 400 W/mK. However, since it is substantially heavier and more expensive than the heat sink material aluminum, copper is commonly used as a coating, plate, or core. Another example of embedded systems are cold extruded pin block heat sinks. Their pin or fin shape allows CTX to utilize high air flow speeds for cooling the computer systems.
Tapping the housing for cooling
Since IPCs radiate heat from their housings, CTX also offers custom electronics enclosures made of metal. If requested, these can be additionally equipped with cooling fins. In Nuremberg, the manufacturer will put on display their range of housing solutions, which are manufactured using the die-casting, extrusion or stamping and bending process. Tailor-made front panels and technical aluminum parts round out the company’s offerings. The advantage of cooling housings lies in the particularly compact design of the end product as well as in the ability to integrate them into tight system designs.
Heat pipes for tight spaces
Visitors from the trade will also be given the opportunity to learn about another area where CTX truly shines: Heat pipes quickly disperse heat in large quantities to a heat sink. They are commonly integrated into heat spreaders that are mounted directly at the hot spots of embedded systems and IPCs. Heat pipes operate on the basis of a closed pipe system containing a circulating coolant. The cooling concept allows installation virtually anywhere and is ideal for use in close spaces.
